Covid-19 Update: TL records 16 new cases, 3 recoveries

DILI, 20 october 2021 (TATOLI) – In the past 24 hours, Timor-Leste recorded 16 new cases, three recoveries, and the active cases are 86, said Rui Maria de Araujo, the Coordinator of the Integrated Crisis Management Center (SIJK).

According to today’s figure, 14 of the new cases were detected in Dili and one each was identified in Bobonaro and Covalima.

Araujo said 50 percent of today’s cases were symptomatic. In addition, 19 percent of the new cases were fully vaccinated.

Thirteen of the new cases were between the ages of 12 and 59, including three cases under 20. These new cases include 12 men and four women.

There are nine people with COVID-19 in hospital and, one of those is in critical condition, which is on a ventilator.

In the past 24 hours, the National Health Laboratory (LNS) has performed 231 PCR tests, including one through contact tracing, 32 via random screening, 192 for the international travel authorization, and six in quarantines.

The SIJK kept calling on communities to practice the health and safety guidelines recommended by the Ministry of Health (MoH) and the WHO to continue combating the spread of the virus.

Since Timor-Leste’s outbreak began in April 2020, the country has recorded 19.746 cases, 19.540 recoveries, and 120 deaths.

In Timor-Leste, of the 754.864 eligible groups, 69.0 percent had received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, of which 44.5 percent have been fully vaccinated.
