DILI, 27 october 2021 (TATOLI) – The President of the Republic Francisco Guterres ‘Lu OLo’ inaugurated the new building of Timor-Leste’s Attorney General (AG).
The inauguration took place at around 9.30 am local time, at the new building of the Attorney General’s Office in Dili, on wednesday.
The new office can accommodate up to 12 prosecutors and 40 officials of the Attorney-General’s Office.
The construction project of the new building of the Attorney General’s Office cost US$ 607.142, 81, including an additional budget of US$4.944, 71.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the President of the Republic, Francisco Guterres LuOlo said that the Attorney General’s Office certainly needs decent and functional facilities suitable for carrying out its assigned duties.
“I understand that this is the inauguration of important physical infrastructure, which the Attorney General’s Office can have adequate space and equipment to be used by prosecutors and officials to better perform and expand the services of the Attorney General’s office,” said LuOlo.
“We must be increasingly aware that it is only worthwhile to improve physical and technological infrastructures if we know how to use them to effectively improve our services,” he said.
At the same place, Timor-Leste’s Attorney General (AG), Alfonso Lopes informed that the inauguration of the new building of the Attorney General’s Office marked new progress in Timor-Leste’s Public Prosecutor.
He said the new building would help to improve the performances of the prosecutors and officials of the Attorney General’s Office in carrying out relevant works and services under the law.
Lopes affirmed that the new building would be equipped with appropriate facilities and equipment, including continuous capacity building and training programs for the officials to improve the work and services of the Attorney General’s office.
Director-General of the Administrative-Technical Support Services of the Timor-Leste’s Public Prosecutors, Gil da Conceição Savio informed that the construction of the building commenced on october 17, 2019, by Bobolait Lda Company after winning the construction project.
