DILI, 29 october 2021 (TATOLI) – Manu-Koko Group from Atauro Island won first place in the one-day culinary competition at the commemoration of the 252nd Anniversary of Dili Day, held in Dili, on October 29.
Six culinary groups representing the six administrative posts of Dili municipality competed in the culinary competition, including Manu Kokorek from Atauro administrative post, Lafaek from Nain-Feto, Metinaro-Oan from Hera-Metinaro, Feto-Madohi from Dom-Aleixo, Colmera from Vera-Cruz, and Raler from Cristo Rei administrative post.
Among the six culinary groups, Manu Kokorek came out on top of the competition, followed by Raler de Cristo in second, Dom Aleixo in third, Metinaro Oan from Metinaro in fourth, Feto Madohi from Nain Feto in fifth, and Vera Cruz ranked in sixth place.
The President of the Authority of Dili Municipality, Guilhermina Filomena Saldanha informed that a culinary competition was realized to celebrate the 252nd anniversary of Dili Day.
The raw foods for the traditional culinary competition were provided by the Dili Municipal Authority – meat, fish, vegetable, and peppers.
“The Dili Day was supposed to commemorate on October 10, however, we postponed the celebration due to several factors, and today we commemorate the Dili Day,” said Saldanha.
She said among the cooks of the culinary competition, several men were involved as well.
In addition, the Director of Local Marker and Tourism Management of Dili Municipality, Justina Amaral said the culinary competition would be judged on five key evaluation criteria – cooking techniques, timing, hygiene, presentation, and flavor.
The culinary competition was judged by five judges selected by the Dili Municipal Authority.
