Around 2.100 F-FDTL officers receive supplementary remuneration for additional services

DILI, 10 november 2021 (TATOLI) – The Ministry of Finance (MoF), through the Technical Secretariat of the COVID-19 Fund, had made the payment of the supplementary remuneration for 2.100 officers of Timorese National Defense Force (F-FDTL) for their additional services as front line workers, totaling US$ 6.4 million.

“As of Tuesday (11/10), the Technical Secretariat of the COVID-19 Fund of the Ministry of Finance made the payment of the supplementary remuneration for 2.100 army officers, who had been working as the front line workers during Covid-19 time, totaling 6.4 million”, said in a statement.

Last month, the Technical Secretariat of the COVID-19 Fund has also made the same payment of the supplementary remuneration, totaling US$5.1 million, for the additional services of the 3.821 officers of the Timorese National Police (PNTL),  for their additional services as frontline workers. 

MoF also made the payment of the supplementary remuneration for 449 frontline workers of the Integrated Crisis Management Center (SIJK), totaling US$322,925 for four months period (february to may).

In addition, on october 12, 2021, MoF also made the same payment for 143 officers of Timor-Leste Customs, totaling US$158.790 for four months period (march to june).

As of monnday, november 8, 2021, MoF had made the payment of supplementary remuneration for the frontline workers, totaling US$ 12.7 or 25 percent of the US$51.9 allocated budget.

In addition, as of Monday (11/10), the execution of the Covid-19 fund reached US$124.2 million, or 43% of the total allocated budget of US$287.6 million.

 The President of the Republic, Francisco Guterres Lú Olo, approved, on August 23, the second amendment to the decree-law on the payment of the supplementary remuneration for the frontline workers.

The Head of State previously said that the frontline workers carry out their professional activities to prevent and control Covid-19 in a situation of putting their life at high risk of getting Covid-19. Therefore, the Government presented a decree-law to the President of the Republic to approve the Decree-Law.

The President of the Republic approved the Decree-Law No. 17/2020, of April 30, to effectively provide frontline workers with a salary supplement.

The implementation of the supplementary remuneration commenced in March 2020 and would terminate in  December 2021, when the execution of the OGE ends. A new decree-law is needed to continue the supplementary remuneration in 2022.
