Government prepare to run the Presidential election in 2022

DILI, 23 november 2021 ( TATOLI)- The Minister of State Administration (MSA), Miguel Perreira de Carvalho said the MSA has prepared to run the 2022 Presidential Election, saying is waiting for the date to be set by the President of the Republic Francisco Guterres “Lu- Olo to be adjusted.

“MSA through the Secretariat of Technical of Electoral Administration (STAE) and the Commission of National Election (CNE) have worked hard to conduct the presidential elections in 2022,” MSA Miguel Pereira Carvalho informed the media at the Presidential Palace at Aitarak Laran on Monday.

Carvalho added that the preparations that have been made by MSA through STAE and CNE, during this time are recorded the new voter into the system both within the country and overseas, started from September 09 to January 14, 2022, conducting civic education for new voters in schools, made the logistical preparations and welcome the international observers from the European Union and the United Nations.

Carvalho said, currently, STAE hare recorded around 846,352 voters to be participated in the 2022 presidential election in its Database, adding the number will increase since the new voter registration is still ongoing and will end on January 14, 2022.

“The data will elaborate and announce to the public after new voters registration is concluded on January 14, 2022,” said Carvalho.

At the same time, Carvalho also highlights the total budget allocated to MSA for hiring the temporary staff and for the logistical use in the preparation for the 2022 presidential election.

“The budget has been prepared by the government through the MSA, is around $9 million more, the budged will recruit 1200 temporary staff and will purchase logistical materials related to the 2022 Presidential ‘s election and Legislative Election in 2023,” he said.
