DILI, december 13, 2021 (TATOLI) – The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) handed over 15 vehicles to the Minister of Health (MOH), to support the Ministry of Health’s SAMES distributing medical supplies to municipalities.
JICA’s representative in Timor-Leste, Goto Ko said the assistance would help the government’s Ministry of Health to distribute drugs to the city efficiently.
Ko Goto added that the Government of Japan is committed to continuing to assist the government of Timor-Leste in the health sector, for that he said JICA offered an additional 15 vehicles
Goto Ko at the same time extends an appreciation to the Government of Timor-Leste for successfully fighting COVID-19 for two years.
“The success of preventing COVID-19 in Timor-Leste was also contributed by development partners. We are all working together to ensure that the Timorese people are free from COVID-19,” said JICA’s representative in Timor-Leste, Goto Ko to TATOLI in Comoro, November 13, this Monday.
In addition, JICA also handed over medical equipment consisting of 1 cold box puck-up trick, 3 box Bruck, 8 mini box trucks, and 3 forklifts.
According to Goto Ko, the 15 vehicles were funded by the Japanese government for 7 million USD.
“I guarantee that Jica will continue to partner with the government of Timor-Leste to expand our cooperation in the health sector,” said Goto ko.
At the same time, Minister of Health Odete Freitas Belo appreciated the generous support from the Government and the People of Japan saying Timor-Leste is pleased to have additional 15 vehicles from the Government of Japan to support the work of MoH.
” I would like to thank the Japanese Government through Jica for the support given to Timor-Leste,” said Belo.
According to Belo, these vehicles will be distributed to every municipality including Oe-Cusse Ambeno, to ensure all supplies of medicines are safe.
