“In early 2022, the Government through SSVTE will send workers to South Korea according to requests from South Korean companies. Therefore, on the 14th they will leave for South Korea,” said Director of Foreign Manpower Filomeno Soares to Tatoli Agency in Dili Cathedral Hall, 7 January this Friday.

The 71 workers will work in different companies. 28 of them will work in factories, 30 in the fisheries sector, and include 13 laborers, However, 13 workers are required to be retested for COVID-19 before leaving the country.

“At the time of departure, workers must comply with the Covid-19 health protocol, so they must be isolated for one night at the hotel before leaving or after arriving in South Korea,” said Soares.

Soares said there were four hotels in Dili that workers would use to isolate for one night. And also after arriving in South Korea, they will continue to be isolated for 10 days, and the isolation costs will be paid by themselves.

The fund allocated for each worker is about $4,500, which is used to pay for hotel isolation and airfare. Tickets are currently more expensive due to the Covid-19 situation.

There are many complaints from workers but the use of the budget has been clarified to each worker.
