More than 5690 residents in Caicoli village are yet to contribute to environmental cleanliness

DILI, 08 january, 2021 (TATOLI)- More than 5690 residents in Kaicoli dispose of their trash improperly, according to local authority Hipólito Marques Sarmento.

Hipólito Marques Sarmento said, following Government Regulation Number 32 of 2017 concerning Contributions to Environmental Protection, the population in Caicoli has not complied with the Government Regulation on environmental health.

“85% of the population in Kaikoli Village has knowledge of the waste problem, but there are still many who lack the awareness to dispose of garbage in its place,” said Head of KAIKOLI Village, Hipolito Marques Sarmento to the TATOLI at his office in Kaikoli, January 8 this Saturday.

He said the village head had appealed to the entire community to dispose of the garbage on time at 07.00 PM and early at 07.00 AM so that the company could collect the waste, but it was useless for the people in the Caicoli area.

In the same place, Sarmento said, improper disposal will cause a lot of mosquitoes and flies and cause various diseases for humans.

“Many diseases will be transmitted to humans through mosquitoes and flies due to an unhealthy environment,” he said.

According to Sarmento, the public must pay a fine for not disposing of waste in its proper place, following government regulation number 38/2017, but this was not applicable.
