KOICA provides financial support of $7.8 million to implement the project “Say No to 5S”

DILI, january 14, 2021 (TATOLI)– The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) has provided financial support of 7.8 million to the Government of Timor-Leste to implement the “Say No to 5S” project.

The project aims to improve nutrition and focus on the health of students in Timor-Leste, in particular preventing children from starvation, various diseases, preventing them from smoking or drinking alcohol.

Minister Rui said this is a very important project to improve student health, nutrition and ensure a safe school environment and reduce the risk of various diseases in schools.

“The funds will also be used to support school feeding programs by providing nutritious food to children,”

This is a five-year project to be implemented by the World Food Program (WFP),World Health Organization (WHO), the Ministry of Education, and the Ministry of Health for the benefit of 300,000 students in 400 primary schools in Baucau, Bobonaro, and Manufahi.

South Korean Ambassador to the TL, Jeong ho Kim said it was an honor for him to represent Korea as a donor country to support the health and well-being of Timorese children.

“Timor-Leste has been working closely with WFP and WHO for more than five years by providing food support, health support and education to children so that with access to Health and Nutrition children can overcome various diseases,”
