U.S. had facilitated 240 Timorese law enforcement officials and judicial authorities of training capacity in Bangkok

DILI, 26 january 2022 (TATOLI) – The United States of America (USA) through the American Embassy in Timor-Leste had facilitated 240 Timorese law enforcement officials and judicial authorities had benefited the training capacity in Bangkok.

“240 Timorese law enforcement officials and judicial authorities trained in investigations, border interdiction, and anti-trafficking at the International Law Enforcement Academy in Bangkok Thailand during this time,” US Charge’ d’ Affaires Tom Daley told reporters in the Klabis Forum at the US Embassy in Praia dos Coqueiros, Dili on wednesday.

Tom Daley added that the US Security Training Center has two training centers, namely Bangkok, Thailand and Europe, therefore all security training partners are held in these two places.

Daley explained that all bilateral security cooperation in Timor – Leste aims to empower law enforcement officials and judicial authorities to understand the human rights based on the democracy to work professionally in serving the country and its people in Timor – Leste.

“We have no other interests; we work together in the field of security and defense because Timor – Leste and the U.S. are allies and this cooperation can be increased to develop democracy in Timor – Leste.,” Daley said.
