DILI, 02 february 2022 (TATOLI)- Council of Ministers Meeting (CoMM)has elected the Ambassador of Timor-Leste to the Republic of Indonesia and at the same time serves as the Ambassador of Timor – Leste to the Association of Southeast Asia Nation (ASEAN) in Jakarta.
“The new Ambassador of Timor-Leste to the Republic of Indonesia and also serves as the Ambassador of Timor – Leste to ASEAN Filomeno Aleixo da Cruz will conduct his mission in Jakarta. The regulation stipulates that the Ambassador of Timor-Leste to Indonesia can be concurrently the Ambassador of Timor – Leste to ASEAN in Jakarta,” Minister of the Presidency of the Council of the Ministers Fidelis Manuel Leite Magalhães told reporters in Palace Government, Dili today.
Magalhães explained that Timor-Leste still has its own ambassador directly in ASEAN because Timor-Leste yet officially became a member of ASEAN because of that, the Ambassador of Timor – Leste to Indonesia in Jakarta as the Representative of Timor – Leste to ASEAN.
“Timor-Leste will open its embassy directly in ASEAN when Timor -Leste has officially become a member of ASEAN,” Magalhães said.
The proposal of the Government about the New Ambassador of Timor – Leste to the Republic of Indonesia and ASEAN is presented by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Adalzija Albertina Xavier Reis Magno.
Previously, Filomeno Aleixo da Cruz had served as the Vice Minister of State Administration in the first period of the Constitutional government of Timor – Leste.
