DILI, 14 february 2022 (TATOLI) – The Ambassador of Portugal to Timor – Leste, José Pedro Machado Viera has terminated his diplomatic mission in Timor – Leste during four years and today met with the President of the Republic (PR) Francisco Guterres “Lu-Olo” to say farewell.
During the meeting, the President of the Republic Francisco Guterres “Lú-Olo” asked the Ambassador of Portugal to continue the bilateral cooperation in all aspects in the future.
“I came to meet with the President of the Republic to say farewell because my diplomatic mission in Timor-Leste has terminated, it is time for me to return to Portugal to conduct the diplomatic missions in other countries,” Ambassador of Portugal Veira told reporters at the Presidential Palace, Aitarak Laran, Bairopite, Dili, this monday.
On this occasion the President of the Republic of Timor–Leste, Francisco Guterres “Lú-Olo” and the Ambassador of Portugal, Viera spoke about the bilateral cooperation that has been conducted and will continue to develop in the future to make the progress of Timor–Leste.
“The Head of State of Timor-Leste asked Portugal to become the eternal partner of cooperation to maintain the friendship between the people of Timor-Leste and the people of Portugal in developing Timor-Leste together, through the contribution of ideas and morals for the welfare of the Nation and State,” Ambassador of Portugal said.
“I also thanked the Head of State who has accepted me to conduct a diplomatic mission during four years in Timor –Leste.
Previously, the Ambassador of Portugal, José Pedro Machado Viera, had also said farewell to the President of the National Parliament, Aniceto Guterres, last week.
