DILI, 15 february 2022 (TATOLI) – More than 7000 people have already received the Pfizer Covid-19 Booster shots in Timor-Leste against the SARS-CoV-2, announced the Dili Municipal Health Services, Agostinha Segurado.
“On the 3rd of january, we launched the vaccination campaign of the Pfizer booster shot in the country. On the 8th of january, more than 3000 doses were administered. Up to now, we’ve administered more than 7000 doses of the Pfizer booster in the country. The booster shots are prioritized for the frontline workers, elderly people with underlying medical conditions as well as other vulnerable groups,” Segurado said in a press conference held at the Ministry of Social Solidarity and Inclusion (MoSSI), in Dili, on tuesday.
She said health workers have been deployed in different health facilities to administer the Pfizer booster to the communities.
According to the plan outlined by the Ministry of Health, it is necessary to increase the coverage of the first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine for all adults, reinforcing the second dose for students and completing the booster dose for the entire population.
The spokesperson of the Inter-Ministerial Commission for Covid-19 Vaccination Campaign, Danina Coelho said that the country has currently vaccinated 37.509 students between 12 and below 18 years with the first dose, equivalent to 20.6%, of which 30.126 or 16.6% had already been fully vaccinated.
In Timor-Leste, of the 754.864 eligible adult groups, 84.4% had received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, of which 71.2% have been fully vaccinated.
So far, Timor-Leste had received a total of 1.573.830 doses of Covid-19 vaccines, consisting of 1.012.850 doses of AstraZeneca, 100.000 doses of SINOVAC, and 460.980 doses of Pfizer vaccines.
