DILI, 15 february 2021 (TATOLI)- Secretary of State for Civil Protection (SSCP) is conducting the second validation for the National Action Plan (NAP) based on the United Nations Security Council for Women Peace and Security.
Secretary of State for Civil Protection (SSCP), Joaquim José Gusmão dos Reis Martins said currently SSCP has provided Annual Action Plan, 1325, which will be implemented in 2022 to 2026. The first Annual Action Plan was concluded in the year 2021.
The main purpose of this activity is to validate the Annual Action Plan with government relevant line ministerial and civic society which is implemented in each institution.
“We are continuing to the second period for women’s peace and security. It provides more women comprehensive peace and security. Thus, a woman be able to contribute for community Conflict Prevention,” Secretary of State for Civil Protection (SSCP), Joaquim José Gusmão dos Reis Martins told reports at Timor Plaza, 15 february, this tuesday.
Mr. Gusmão said UN women supported this program and this program is led by the Minister of Interior and SSCP through the National Direction Prevention Conflict Communitarian.
SSCP thanked the all Working and Drafting Team, on monitoring, which contributed for the developing process on NAP 2325 to make this second period happen.
Minister of the Interior noted that in developing the National Action Plan Timor-Leste was showing its commitment as a United Nations Member State to Resolution 1325 and said that its implementation would help to achieve women’s rights in accordance with the Constitution and international treaties and conventions ratified and adopted by Timor-Leste.
It is recalled that the first period of Women Peace and Security was held in late 2021. It was focused on women communitarian conflict prevention.
“Women are able to make decisions on the peace building process related to the security to avoid the conflicts and human rights violence based on gender and support gender equality in the peace building process to reconstruct Timor –Leste,” He said.
This project is fully supported by Australia and Sweden governments, through UN Women providing financial support for the first period of 74 thousands USD and the second period is 60 thousands USD.
