DILI, 16 february 2022 (TATOLI) – The Timorese Government welcomes the victory achieved by António Costa in the legislative elections, congratulating him on his re-election and wishing him success in the exercise of functions.

The spokesman for the Timorese Government, current Minister of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Fidélis Leite Magalhães, said today that the Executive is satisfied with the results obtained in the legislative elections that took place on january 31 in Portugal.
“The Government wishes success to the new Portuguese Executive, in this case to the Socialist Party for the victory achieved in the legislative. I hope that the new mandate will continue the development policy and bring prosperity to the Portuguese people”, said the official, in statements to journalists, after leaving the Council of Ministers meeting, at the Government Palace, in Dili.
The Portuguese Prime Minister’s party won the elections with 41.68%, thus winning 117 seats in the Assembly of the Republic of Portugal.
The official recalled that Portugal and Timor-Leste are two sister countries, united by lasting bonds of friendship.
António Costa is re-elected as Portuguese Prime Minister for another four years.
