STAE starts today voter registration for parallel polling centers in Dili

DILI, 18 february 2022 (TATOLI) – The Technical Secretariat of the Electoral Administration (STAE) starts today, voter registration for the three parallel polling centers installed in Dili, whose term will be extended until march 3rd.

The registration process is intended only for voters residing in the capital who are unable to return to their municipalities to vote in the presidential elections.

The Director General of STAE, Acilino Branco, therefore appealed to everyone to register at the different administrative posts in Dili.

“STAE starts today with the process of registering eligible citizens. Interested parties must have the declaration of the suco chief and the electoral card when they have to fill in the form”, he said.

The official stressed, however, that it is up to the authorities of each post to send the lists containing the names of voters to STAE for identification purposes.

For civil servants who will not have any possibility of traveling to the municipality, the director explained that they must have in their possession the official declaration of the directors of each institution to then be forwarded to the Civil Service Commission (CFP). Subsequently, the latter will be responsible for sending it to STAE for registration and identification.

“Patients from municipalities residing in the capital must send the declaration letter to the Ministry of Health, which, in turn, will send it to STAE”, he said.

As for the situation of students also residing in Dili, they must obtain statements from the school board as well as from the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Culture (MESCC).

The Director General of STAE, Acilino Manuel Branco, said that three parallel voting centers are created in Dili for this purpose – One, in the east, at the Technical-Vocational School in Becora; another in the central area of ​​the city, in the gymnasium of Dili, in Caicoli, and another installed in the west, more specifically in the building of the National Institute of Public Administration (INAP).
