To ensure the security on presidential election, MoF hands over 36 vehicles to MoI

DILI, 22 february 2022 (TATOLI)—The Ministry of Finance (MoF) through the General Office of State Asset Management (DJJPE) handed over 36 units of vehicles to the Ministry of Interior (MoI).

This support is to ensure the Timor-Leste National Police (PNTL) on ensuring security during the Presidential Election that will be held on march 19, 2022.

According to a note, an official released by the Ministry of Finance said the delivery of the 36 units of vehicles was carried out with the approval of the vice minister of finance, Sara Lobo Brites.

“These 36 vehicles belong to the government. Those are collected according to the implementation of Standard Operating Procedures on the guidelines.   On the joint team for the Relocation and Use of State Pool Vehicles at Ministries, State Agencies, Autonomy Fund Services, and National Pools stationed at DJJPE, Balide,” said the letter.

It is recorded that from january 24 to february 11, 2022, the joint team has collected 395 units of state-owned vehicles from ministries, State Institutions, and Autonomy Fund Services.

In the future, the Ministry of Finance will allocate 26 units of state vehicles to STAE and 13 units to CNE (National Election Commission) and other state institutions in presidential election activities.

It is known that STAE is officially announced the presidential election in 2022. There are 1200 establishment of polling centers and 1500 polling stations.

It is required as an operational vehicle to support the security sector.   The state vehicles will guarantee the process of transporting election materials for the 2022 presidential election.
