More than 500 Timorese defense force members benefits the training skills in Australia

DILI, 14 march 2022 (TATOLI)- The Republic of democratic of Timor-Leste (RDTL) – a country which is restaurated its independence on may 20, 2002, and Australia, among others, have been established an excellent bilateral relation in various aspects including in the defense sector since Timor-Leste get its independence.

In the defense sector, more than 500 Timor-Leste Defense Force (F-FDTL) have attended the capacity training in Australia over the past two decades.

“Capacity training such as military courses, logistics, administration, English language courses, war tactics, boat operations and others related to the professionalism of the F-FDTL,” the Minister of Defense of Timor-Leste, Filomeno Paixão told TATOLI in his office, Fatuhada, Dili on this monday.

Minister of Defense Filomeno Paixão, added that until now the cooperation between Australia and Timor-Leste is getting better because all training and courses on capacity building of F-FDTL continue to be carried out according to the needs of the F-FDTL.

“We wish the F-FDTL members to work professionally, therefore to adapt the modern military profession, F-FDTL members must attend the training and courses in Australia and the other countries to adapt their skills according to the needs of F-FDTL,” ‘ Minister of Defense Filomeno Paixão said.

The F-FDTL members have also attended the training on leadership, regional security, Portuguese courses, English courses, Taekwondo training and other courses at the F-FDTL Metinaro Center, during this time.
