DILI, 18 march 2022 (TATOLI)- The Head of the delegation of observers from the Community of Portuguese-speaking Countries (CPLP) José Guerreiro Alves Primo, appealed to the people of Timor – Leste (TL) to participate maximally in the presidential elections which will be held on 19 of march 2022.
“Our solidarity is to encourage the people of Timor-Leste to participate in the 2022 presidential elections maximally, because the people’s vote will determine the President of the Republic to lead the sovereignty of Timor – Leste,” the Head of the CPLP ‘s delegation José Guerreiro Alves Primo told reporters after meeting with the President of the Republic Francisco Guterres ‘’Lu- Olo’’ at the Presidential Nicolao Lobato ‘s building, Bairo – Pite, Dili on this friday.
During the meeting the delegation conveyed their presence as observers on the 2022 presidential election in Timor – Leste to the Head of State.
“The purpose of that meeting is to manifest our presence in the territory of Timor – Leste as the solidarity of the CPLP with each member state for the people of Timor – Leste,” he said.
As a team of observers to observe the process of Timor-Leste’s authority on the realization of the electoral process based on the procedures and laws according to the democratization in ensuring transparent election.
He said, based on observations during the general campaign, underlined that, the campaign was going well with the participation of the majority of young people safely and peacefully, hoping that this, stability will give the success of the presidential election which will held on 19 of march 2022 based on the democratization in Timor – Leste.
The delegation team from the CPLP also underlined that, Timor – Leste has promoted democracy because the competition for the presidential candidate of the Republic of 2022 also involves women and young people to ensure the democracy in Timor – Leste, hoped this principle must be increased in the next elections.
The composition of the observer delegation from the CPLP consists of 16 persons, representing each CPLP ‘s member country.
