DILI, 21 march 2022 (TATOLI)- The Government of Timor– Leste through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation (MoFAC), donates $1 million to Intergovernmental Organization of 20 conflict-affected countries (g7+), to conduct the program of advocacy, diplomacy in globally and nationally and to promote the peace and conflict resolution in Timor– Leste.
The Vice Minister of MoFAC Julião da Silva, said based on the Council of Minister meeting last week had decided to donate $ 1 million to g7+ in Timor – Leste, therefore MoFAC and g7+ which is represented by the Vice Minister of MoFAC Julião da Silva, and the Secretary-General of g7+ Helder da Costa had signed officially the donation of $ 1 million on this monday.
“It’s a pleasure for me to represent the Government of the Republic of the Democratic of Timor– Leste to sign this financing agreement with the g7 + which would support a financial support to the organization in amount of $ 1 million per year for the period of five years from 2022- 2027,” Vice Minister of MoFAC Julião da Silva told TATOLI in MoFAC ‘s office, Praia dos Coqueiros, Dili.
The signing of a financial agreement demonstrates Timor-Leste’s commitment to continue supporting g7+ organization in promoting peace and development. “We hope that this support can support the g7+ in undertaking its activities based on the strategic plan of the organization,” stressed.
The Vice Minister of MoFAC Julião da Silva explained that, g7 + is one the priorities of the Government of Timor – Leste to strengthen multilateral cooperation among post conflict countries and between post conflict countries with relevant partners to achieve stability, peace ang good governance in post conflict countries.
“As post conflict country Timor –Leste believes in the importance of post conflict countries ‘ voices and engagement in multilateral fora. As a country that is committed to the promotion and protection of human rights, Timor – Leste will run for Human right council for the term of 2024-2026.Timor–Leste hope that it can count on the supporter of the g7+ to Timor-Leste‘s candidacy,’’ the Vice Minister of MoFAC, Julião da Silva added.
At the same place, the General-Secretary of g7+, Helder da Costa appreciates the Government of Timor- Leste ‘s commitment to support financing $ 1 million to g7 + in running its program in Timor -Leste and internationally.
“$ 1 million that is donated by the Government of Timor –Leste to g7+ will be used to finance the principal program as advocacy, diplomacy in nationally and globally, to share Timor–Leste‘s experience about the elections, natural resources, peace and reconciliation in around the world,’’ the General-Secretary of g7+ Helder da Costa said.
g7+ also will work together with the Government about the outreach of the martial art groups to maintain the peace to contribute to the national development in Timor–Leste.
