Australia will support $5 million to implement the program of “ Bolsa da mãe” for new generation in Timor–Leste

DILI, 04 april 2022 (TATOLI) – Australian assistance to Timor-Leste is “relentless”. Thus, The Australia’s Government through its Embassy in Timor–Leste will support another $ 5 million to the Government through the Ministry of social solidarity and inclusiveness (MSSI) to implement the program of “Bolsa da mãe” for new generation in Timor–Leste.

“Today we discuss about the technical how to implement the program of “Bolsa da Mae” for new generation to support the budged to mothers and young children to increase their nutrition in Timor–Leste,’’ the Ambassador of Australia in Timor–Leste William Costello, told TATOLI at the office of MSSI, after meeting with the Minister of MSSI and the Interim Prime Minister Armanda Berta dos Santos in Cai–Coli, Dili on this monday.

The Ambassador of Australia in Timor–Leste, William Costello, added that, the program of “Bolsa da mãe” for new generation will be implemented in the three municipalities such as, Ainaro, Bobonaro and Oe-cusse by the end of   this year, and will be expanded in the whole municipalities of Timor–Leste.

“The technical of the Government of Australia and MSSI had made some preparation how to accelerate the program of “Bolsa da mãe” for new generation, because of that, we have working together to prepare the form of registration and will register them in the middle of this year. We hope that, the mothers and young children will access the payment from the program of “Bolsa da mãe” for new generation to increase their nutrition by the end of this years,’’  the Ambassador of Australia, William Costello stated.

The Ambassador of Australia in Timor–Leste, Costello, hope that, this program can success in the three municipalities of Ainaro, Bobonaro and Oe-cusse. Therefore, the Government of Australia and Timor–Leste can expand this program to increase the mothers and young children ‘s nutrition  in all municipalities in across the Timor–Leste.

In addition, Australia also had committed to support the human development in the area of the gender equality to stop the domestic violence, social protection and also support the People with Disability (PWD) in Timor–Leste.

Australia wishes to support the process of the national development in Timor–Leste because Australia and Timor–Leste, are the neighbor country. Australia will continue to maintain the bilateral cooperation   to support Timor–Leste in the various sector to develop the national development in Timor–Leste.
