DILI, 12 april 2022 (TATOLI)-Timor-Leste is currently experiencing a crisis of economic inflation – all basic food prices and cooking oil prices have increased and will make it difficult for Timorese people to buy it. Therefore, CCI-TL hopes that the Government can do a good policy strategy to intervene on the market ‘s price, The Vice President of CCI- TL, João Alves said.
“I don’t think the Government will decrease the price of basic necessities and the price of fuel because, Timor–Leste depend on imports from abroad. CCI-TL recommends the Government to provide subsidies to PERTAMINA to decrease the fuel ‘s prices, as a result as, the public transport can be affordable,” said Alves to Tatoli at the Ministry of Finance in Aitarak–Laran Dili, on this tuesday.
In addition, the Vice President of CCI–TL, João Alves stated, the public transportation must be continuing to conduct the daily activities movement to facilitate the farmers and trader will bring their product to sell in the market and the Timor-Leste Economy through buying and selling transactions in the market will run smoothly.
“For this reason, CCI-TL recommends to the Government of Timor-Leste to immediately provide subsidies to PERTAMINA in Timor–Leste, to facilitate public transportation in order it can contribute to the economy in Timor-Leste”.
Despite recommending to Government to facilitate subsidies to PERTAMINA in Timor–Leste, CCI-TL wouldn’t intervene on the strategies and mechanisms to subsidize the oil ‘s prices in Timor- Leste due to the increasing of the basic necessities and fuel oil ‘s price throughout the world due to the war between Russia and Ukraine during this time.
