DILI, 14 april 2022 (TATOLI) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation (MNEC) executed 43% of the General State Budget (OGE) for 2022 in the first quarter, equivalent to 10.5 million US dollars, revealed the Secretary General of the MNEC, Francisco Tilman Cepeda.
According to the Secretary-General, this performance fee includes obligations and commitments.
“The execution of the budget does not serve to obtain a percentage, but to fulfill the goals established by the ministry itself. Our execution had direct benefits and the real result is the transfer of funds to embassies, mobility of diplomats and maintenance of the ministry’s equipment and buildings”, explained the official, at Praia dos Coqueiros, in Dili.
Francisco Tilman Cepeda acknowledges that the MNEC’s budget allocation for the 2022 fiscal year is limited, adding that the funds will be implemented according to needs.
According to the official, travel expenses for diplomats are normally US$2 million, but this year they are at US$300,000, which makes diplomatic mobility difficult to carry out missions abroad.
“We strive to adapt to the existing financial situation,” he concluded.
The MNEC has a budget of US$24.6 million to finance two programs, six subprograms and eight activities.
