DILI, 25, april 2022 (TATOLI)– The United Nations, Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) appreciated the Center of training for Mathematics and Science (MSC) for providing the training for teachers at the municipality level.
Following the statement released by UNESCO, the training is focused on Mathematics and Science which was based on Japanese methodology and supplementary science and mathematics materials co-developed between Japan and Timorese partners under the UNESCO project ‘Strengthening Science and Mathematics Primary Education in Timor-Leste’ funded by the Government of Japan.
Director of Education for the municipality of Covalima, Edmundo Pereira considered this training is a good opportunity to enhance the knowledge of the teachers to focus on Science and Mathematics education.
” The teacher has already been teaching for many years with limited training, it is a great time for the teacher to update and enhance their knowledge,” said Perreira.
At the same place, the Representative of UNESCO Jakarta, Ai Sugiura, offered an appreciation to the SESIM and INFORDEPE as well as the Education Department in Covalima, for organizing this training project, adding that the UNESCO has achieved many things since the project steering committee 1 meeting in 2020 among others, by conducting teacher baseline training and student baseline test for science and mathematic cycles 1 and 2.
“We have conducted online master trainer training with our Japanese partner in 2021. MSC and INFORDEPE have started providing teachers training in municipalities since 2022,” said UNESCO Representative via Video Conference.
