Three ambassadors and US Chargé d’affaires meet newly elected President Ramos Horta

DILI, 26 april 2022 (TATOLI) – The newly elected President of the Republic, Jose Ramos Horta held a meeting with the ambassador of New Zealand, Philip Hewitt, the ambassador of Japan, Masami Kinefuchi, the ambassador of South Korea, Kim Jeong Ho, and the US Chargé d’affaires, Tom Daley, at the Horta’s Official Residence, in Farol, in Dili.

During the meeting with the diplomats, Horta shared his thoughts and personal evaluation of Timor-Leste 2022 Presidential Election.

“Overall, I considered the 2022 Presidential Election was realized well despite some minor incidents and they had no effects on the election,” Horta told reporters at his official residence, in Farol, Dili, today.

Horta expressed his admiration for the commitment and participation of the Timorese people in the presidential election: “It’s a poor country, but the people participated in the election to exercise their democratic rights in electing their new leader.”

Horta also held a meeting with the Ambassador of Australia to Timor-Leste, William Costello, on monday.

At the same place, the ambassador of Japan, Masami Kinefuchi informed that some special guests from Japan have shown their interest to attend the President’s Swearing-in ceremony, on may 20.

“Some of these prominent persons are invited by Ramos Horta, and they have shown their interest to participate in the presidential inauguration,” he said.

Previosly, The Prime Minister of Timor-Leste, Taur Matan Ruak informed that the presidential inauguration ceremony to be held on 20 of May 2022 in Tasi Tolu, Dili.
