DÍLI, 29 October 2026 (TATOLI) – Minister of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers Agio Pereira met with United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Resident Representative in Timor-Leste Katyna Argueta and representatives of the European Union (EU) in Dili on Thursday to discuss the Government’s digital transformation plans and support provided through the Dalan Digital project.

The meeting focused on aligning international development assistance with the Government’s digital transformation priorities, particularly in public service delivery, cybersecurity and digital infrastructure.

During the meeting, Pereira outlined national priorities for digitising public services and presented work undertaken by the Interministerial Commission on Cybersecurity and Digitalisation of State Services, which he chairs.

The discussions also examined how Dalan Digital could support the Government’s priorities in coordination with the relevant national institutions, helping ensure that development assistance is aligned with the country’s digital transformation agenda.

Funded by the EU and implemented by UNDP in partnership with the ministries responsible for justice, transport and communications, and state administration, Dalan Digital aims to strengthen Timor-Leste’s digital governance and expand digital citizenship.

The project supports the development of legal and regulatory frameworks, digital public infrastructure and interoperability between government systems. It also seeks to strengthen institutional capacity and improve digital literacy.

These efforts are intended to help build the foundations for more connected public services and enable citizens to engage more effectively with government through digital platforms.
