DILI, 09 august 2022 (TATOLI) – The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MoEYS) and the Timor-Leste Association of Persons with Disabilities, (ADTL) provided the second period of examination for 31 students with disabilities who had studied at ADTL, Mascarenhas Training Center, Dili so far.
The Illiteracy Coordinator, MoEYS, Francisco Maria, said 31 students with disabilities had attended education recurrent by the Ministry of Education in Timor-Leste.
“Re-education for students with disabilities was held in collaboration with MoEYS and ADTL in Dili, and today 31 students with disabilities are entitled to take the exam following the junior high school curriculum which runs from the 8th to the 12th this month,” Francisco Maria, told TATOLI at the ADTL office, Mascarenhas, Dili on Tuesday.
He said this was the second period of examination which was conducted at the same time as all schools in the country.
“We hope that 31 disabled students can complete the second-semester exams with good scores to walk towards the national exams in November,”
Meanwhile, the Director of ADTL, Sezario da Silva, thanked MoEYS for the attention given to people with disabilities in the education program, saying ADTL will continue to collaborate with MoEYS to support disable students to pursue their dreams.
“ADTL only prepares places for persons with disabilities to continue their study in education recurrent program, while MoEYS provides teachers to support participants in completing their studies,”

Noviano Zen Claudi is a disable students said that this second period of examination is an evaluation to measure students’ understanding of the subjects given by the teacher so far.
“I think the exams will be fine if we review all the subjects given by our teachers,” he said.
At the same time, Claudi also hopes that with the support of MoEYS and ADTL through the Re-education of persons with disabilities, they will continue their education at the university level.
“On behalf of persons with disabilities, I would like to thank ADTL and MoEYS for facilitating inclusive education through Education recurrent. We feel proud to be able to access education in Timor-Leste,” he said.
