Indonesia Embassy laying flowers at serojas cemetery to celebrate 77th Indonesian’s Independence day

DILI, 16 august 2022 (TATOLI) – The Indonesia Embassy in Timor – Leste celebrates the 77th Anniversary of Indonesian Independence, by laying flowers at the Indonesian Veterans Memorial ‘Serojas’ to honor those who died in Timor-Leste.

The Indonesian Ambassador to Timor-Leste, Okto Dorinus Manik, said that today the Indonesian Embassy in Timor-Leste conducted a migration ceremony at the Serojas Heroes Cemetery in Dili, to soothe the spirits of those who have died in Timor-Leste.

“Every year we hold a migration ceremony at the SEROJAS Veterans Memorial to lay flowers for the fallen military including the civilians who have died in Timor-Leste to appease their souls, and  to mark the 77th Indonesian Independence Day that is scheduled to be held on August 17 tomorrow,” said the Indonesian Ambassador, Manik to TATOLI at the Seroja Heroes Cemetery, Balide, Kintal Kiik Dili, Tuesday.

Welcoming the celebration of the Indonesian Independence Day, Ambassador Manik added that the Indonesian Central Government through the Indonesian Embassy in Timor – Leste plans to move all the graves of the militaries and Indonesian civilians who died in the Municipality, Aileu, Lautem, and Vikeke to be buried in the SEROJAS Cemetery in Dili, next year.

The migration event was attended by staff from the Indonesian Embassy in Timor – Leste, officials from Mandiri Bank, Bank of the Republic of Indonesia (BRI), Telkomcels, and other Indonesian businessmen in Timor – Leste.

The migration event was closed with the planting of trees which were directly planted by the Indonesian Ambassador to Timor – Leste, Okto Dorinus Manik.
