Ambassador Manik: TL and Indonesia should tighten security at the border to combat drug trafficking

DILI, 17 august 2022 (TATOLI) – The Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Timor-Leste, Okto Dorinus Manik, said that to combat drug trafficking, Indonesia and Timor-Leste must tighten security at the border.
“Security cooperation between Indonesia and Timor-Leste must be tightened at the border to combat drug trafficking, which often occurs in both countries,” Indonesian Ambassador Okto Dorinus Manik told reporters in Farol Dili, Wednesday.
Ambassador Manik added that Timor – Leste is a transit country for drug trafficking due to the lack of facilities and human resources such as the Timor – Leste National Police ( PNTL ), the Timor – Leste Defense Force ( F – FDTL ), and the Republic of Indonesia Police ( POLRI ) and the Indonesian National Army (TNI) which has been assigned to control the border line of the two countries so far.
“Therefore the Governments of both countries should increase security at all border lines to ensure security at the border lines of the two countries to monitor drug trafficking during this time,” he said.
So far, drug cases have often occurred in Timor – Leste, these cases have occurred in the last few years, while in the last few days around nine East Timorese have become suspects of drug users;” thus if this case is left unchecked then Timor-Leste will become a free country for drug transit,”
Previously, the President of the Republic of Timor – Leste, José Ramos Horta said that drug consumption is very dangerous because it can damage the mental health, organs, and characteristics of people, Therefore, Horta called on the Timorese people, particularly the young Timorese to avoid taking drugs.
So far, Some people think everyone who uses drugs will end in death. Others seem to think that drug use is not dangerous at all. The truth is somewhere in between. Drug use will never be 100 percent safe, but it’s not always as dangerous as people think. The dangers of drug use depend on the drug set and regulatory factors.
Medicinal beet is everything related to medicine and how to use it. Set bits are anything that has to do with people who use drugs. The setting part is about what the person is doing at the time, where they are, the environment they live in, etc.
The basic principle is that the dangers of drugs are the result of interactions between drugs, sets, and settings.
Meanwhile, the effects of drugs include short-term effects and long-term effects. Short-term effects include increased heart rate, high blood pressure, and unpredictable behavior, while long-term effects include damage to blood vessels, liver, kidney, and lung damage, severe tooth decay, and depression, while long-term effects can cause brain damage.
