DILI, 09 september 2022 ( TATOLI)– Minister of Agribusiness and Fishery of Australia Northern Territory, Paul Kirby MLA said, Australia will simplify the visa arrangement for Timorese workers to work in Australia.
The statement was stated by Minister, Kirby after meeting with the State Secretariat for Profesional Training and Employment (SEPFOPE), Alarico do Rosario at Kaikoli Dili.
“I promise will coordinate with Australian immigration authorities to simplify the visa arrangements for Timorese workers to access seasonal work in Australia,” Minster Paul Kirby MLA, told TATOLI at the office of Secretariat State for Vocational, Training, and Employment, (SEPFOPE) Kai- Koli, Dili.
Paul Kirby MLA added that the seasonal working program in Australia is not only accessed by Timorese workers but many countries such as the Pacific Island countries and other countries also work on an Australian farm, therefore in the future, Australia will simplify the visa arrangements for job seekers in Australia, including Timorese workers.
He explained that Timorese workers had shown hard work in Australia, therefore many farm owners were committed to recruiting more Timorese workers to work in Australia in the future.
At the same place the Secretary of State for Vocational and Employment (SEFOPE), Alarico do Rosario highly appreciated the initiative from Minister Paul Kirby MLA, who wishes to support Timor-Leste, particularly in the visa arrangement processing for Timorese workers to work in Australia’s farm.
“We have many unemployed people in Timor-Leste, SEFOPE registers 40,000 – 60,000 unemployed every year, therefore the policy which is taken by the Government of Timor-Leste through SEFOPE is to work with South Korea and Australia to send Timorese workers to reduce unemployment in the country,”
