PM Taur expresses condolences on the passing of Jape Kong Su

DILI, 27 september 2022 (TATOLI) – The Prime Minister of Timor-Leste, Taur Matan Ruak, expressed his condolences over the passing of Jape Kong Su, Owner of Timor-Plaza, who passed away on september 26, 2022 in Australia.

“I am sorry for the sudden passing of Jape Kong Su at the age of 97 years, Jape has become a source of inspiration for young people, especially those who are living abroad. After the war, Jape brought his children back to Timor-Leste to invest in his homeland by building Timor Plaza. So we lost a great-grandfather who offered great motivation for Timorese about going everywhere, working everywhere but do not forget your origin, your country,” said PM

The Head of Government said Timor-Leste lost its great hero Jape, who dedicated almost his entire life to contributing to the national development process.

“His work and memory will remain strong in the hearts of the Timorese people,” he said.

The Prime Minister at the same time hopes that Jape’s sons and daughters will continue his approach and inspire everyone.

“I’m sure the Son and Daughter will continue their father’s approach and pass it on to the next generation of Timor-Leste,”

Following the information, His remains are set to travel back to Dili on the 6th of October.

Jape Group started building Timor-Plaza from Dili Development and it was officially launched in October 2011.

Timor Plaza is a well know shopping center,  consists of hotels, entertainment centers, gymnastics, and other places.

Jape has set up construction in other places that contributed to the country’s developments such as the Maubara Administrative Post office with a total amount of $195,000 spent on construction.

Jape Kong Su was born in Balibo, October 1, 1925.
