DILI, 12 0ctober 2022 (TATOLI) – The Director of Procurement of the National Logistics Center (CLN), Adelina Andrade, said the Government will purchase 10,000 tons of rice next year to strengthen domestic food security.
According to Andrade, the government plans to import more rice due to insufficient local production.
“CLN plans to buy rice, we have around three million US dollars available for this period,” Andrade told Tatoli in Bebora.
She explained before the product is going to import, it requires a public tender so, considering the amount exceeded one million dollars.
“We hope to complete the tender procedure in January next year,” She said.
CLN currently has 2,000 tons of imported rice, 1,500 tons of local rice, and 150 tons of other local products such as peanuts, green beans, and others in warehouses in Bebora, Maliana, Natarbora, and Tíbar.
