DILI, 20 october 2022 (TATOLI)– The Government of Japan through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) provides training for Marine Police Unit Commanders (UPM) to improve the capacity and technical knowledge to ensure maritime security stability and protect Timor – Leste from all threats in the sea.
“I was invited by JICA on behalf of the Timor – Leste National Police ( PNTL) to attend the Maritime Law Enforcement training in defending maritime security in Timor – Leste in all international maritime threats, including in Timor – Leste,” said the UPM Commander, Eugenio Pereira told TATOLI on wednesday.
UPM Commander, Eugenio Pereira, added that the Maritime Law Enforcement training will be held in Yokahama Japan along with 18 other countries which will take place on October 29 and will end on November 08, 2022, saying during the training the participants will visit the Japanese Maritime Police Headquarters and also visit the Forensic Headquarters to thus will take some experience to be implemented in Timor – Leste in the future.
