National exam papers distributed to municipal education offices

DILI, 20 october 2022 (TATOLI) – Municipal education offices across the country received the national exam papers for year nine of primary school, year 12 of high school, and secondary technical-vocational school.

“The national exams are an indicator of the performance of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports. Therefore, I ask the directors of the municipal education offices to show responsibility to ensure good exams,” Minister of Education, Youth and Sports, Armindo Maia, said in Comoro, Dili.

Minister Maia said the General Directorate of Education Inspection paid close attention to the whole processes associated with national exams to ensure proper implementation. 

He asked all students to study hard to get good results, adding that the ministry has already requested Timor-Leste National Police Command (PNTL) to ensure a conducive environment for the upcoming exams. 

The Coordinator of the Office of Evaluation and Curriculum Development, Mateus Reis, informed that 58,133 students registered for the national exams, of which 30,887 are year nine students, while the other 22,525 are secondary school students, 4,339 from Technical-Professional Education and 382 from Recurrent Education.

Reis said that the ministry currently has 484 examination centers, of which 308 are for Basic Education, 114 for General Secondary, and 62 for Technical-Vocational.
