DILI, 04 november 2022 ( TATOLI)– President of the Republic of Timor – Leste (PR), Jose Ramos Horta, participated in a seminar with the Thema “the New World Order” which was directly organized by the Permanent Secretary of g7+ in Portugal, Lisbon.
President Horta as a special speaker, presented the perspective on Cooperation, contributing to strengthening peace and striving for the development process on the conflict to move forward the development process.
The theme “New World Order” reflects on the development of the political world and contributes to reflecting on the reality to make the changes.
President Horta appealed to the member states of the United Nations (UN) and other important relevant organizations to remain united in urging Russia to end the war on Ukraine in order not to affect the world’s economic stability.
Horta also shared the experiences of the history of the struggle for independence over 24 years and this history is a good example for all countries in the world in building peace between the state and the people through the reconciliation process.
Horta is a famous person who is a great peace influence and has a great influence on the UN, in the inspiring of the reconciliation, he was requested to share his experiences and perspectives on “the New World Order” in establishing a resilient country for the development
At the same time, Horta thanked his Homologous Marcelo Rebelo Sousa who attended a high-level seminar on conflict prevention in the world polarization from a g7+ perspective which was organized at the final meeting of the 70th UN General Assembly, on 23 September in New York.
He also refers to the report from the UN of 2022 which classifies 60 countries as state fragile. Of the 60 countries, 15 countries were found to be the most fragile countries. Of the 15 countries, 9 of them have established the g7+.
Another concern that President Horta, presented is the hunger that was faced by the Republic of Central Africa, Chad, Congo, Madagascar, and Lemen, and the worst hunger is in Burundi, Somalia, South Sudan, and Syria.
“Data on food and nutritional security in the world in 2022 shows that by 2022 the number of people suffering from chronic nutrition will increase to 825 million. This impact happened in Central Africa, South Africa, South Asia, Central America, South America, and others,” said President Horta.
At the same place, the General Secretary of g7+ Helder da Costa, who represented the special imminent Kay Rala Xanana Gusmao, thanked President Horta for sharing the knowledge to remind the world to fight for peace.
“The relevance of this theme can contribute to the reflection on reality which is the stage for our experiences that can promote change to improve the reality,” Helder da Costa said.
This seminar was participated by state representatives from g7+ delegates from Finland, Indonesia, Australia, and International observer partners.
While the Fragile countries members of the g7+ consist of 19 countries such as; Timor – Leste, Afghanistan, Burundi, Costa do Marfim, Ethiopia, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Haiti, Solomon Island, Liberia, Nepal, Papua New Guinea, Republic of Central Africa, Republic Democratic Congo, Serra Leone, Somalia, South Sudan, Tchad, and Togo.
