DILI, 18 november 2022 ( TATOLI)– The team from the Australian Broadcasting Cooperation (ABC) television today had a meeting with the President of the Republic José Ramos Horta. The meeting was to convey ABC television’s support to the Timor – Leste’s media.
During the meeting, the team from ABC television was accompanied by the President Executive of the Television and Radio of Timor- Leste ( RTTL) José Antonio Belo.
“Today media friends from ABC television conveyed to the President of the Republic about the support for media Timor – Leste, especially for RTTL, regarding the Memorandum of Understanding ( MoU)that was signed between RTTL and ABC, The MoU is about exchanging the context and teaching English via television,” said José Antonio Belo, to reporters at the president’s office, Bairo- Pite, Dili.
He added RTTL and ABC television will sign an MoU regarding cooperation in the field of training and improving English language capacity for media in Timor – Leste including English broadcasts in RTTL.
In addition Lead International Development Public Affairs, Jo Elsom, said the meeting was held by the President of the Republic to further discuss, the importance of Media and Press freedom because the national broadcast media must promote the public interest and support information to the public.
” We express our gratitude to the President of the Republic. In the meeting we also will support the media development and how to cooperate with Timor – Leste’s media to support capacity building and capabilities with existing knowledge. We also will establish a relation with Timorese journalists.
