DILI, 23 november 2022 (TATOLI) – Timor-Leste reported that the october Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose 02% from 1% in september.
According to data from the Directorate General of Statistics (DGS) of the Ministry of Finance, the increase was due to a 0.5% rise in the price of food and non-alcoholic drinks and a 0.2% rise in alcohol and tobacco.
Meanwhile, public transport fares fell by 1.3%, clothing and footwear by 0.1%, and household maintenance equipment and furniture by 0.1%.
In addition, food prices also increased, including the prices of vegetables (3.3%), rice (0.8%), and meat (0.1%). The cost of sugar, jam, chocolates, honey, and sweets rose by 0.7%.
Regarding fats, they showed a decrease of (3.4%), fruit (0.8%), fish and other marine foods (0.6%), coffee, tea, and chocolate drinks (0.1%).
The annual CPI percentage recorded an increase of 7.3% in october 2022, compared to the same period in 2021. The increase was due to price increases in various groups of food and non-alcoholic beverages (7.6%), alcohol and tobacco (28.5%), housing (1.1%), transport (12.7%), equipment, maintenance and household furnishings (3.6%), leisure and culture (0.8%), health (0.3%) and education (2.4%).
