Ten  groups of children participate in a vocal competition

DILI, 30 November 2022 (TATOLI) – The interfaith festival organized by the Timor-Leste Religious Tourism Association (ATR-TL) for the modality of group vocal competition, to promote children’s talents.

Ten groups from various religions will participate in the event.

The President of ATR-TL, Padre Ângelo Salsinha said that this competition aims to strengthen faith, unity, and fraternity in cultural diversity, and to foster the spirit of patriotism.

“ATR-TL encourages children’s abilities and skills to become professionals in the world of music”, Salsinha said at the opening competition in Vila Verde Dili.

Meanwhile, ATR-TL Executive Director, Manuel Vong said, this competition aims to help children become more professional. “The association promotes competition to identify children with talents,” he added.

This festival takes place as part of the past celebrations of National Youth Day, on 12 November, and the Proclamation of Independence, on 28 November.

Registration for the festival is free and pre-auditions take place on November 24. The peak is on November 30.

Participants must perform two songs: first, the required song is “Timor-Leste is waiting for you” and the group’s choice of the song may be in Portuguese or Indonesian, which has spiritual nuances and is appropriate for each group.

The first place will receive 600 US dollars, a spinning cup, and a certificate, the second will receive 500, and the third 400. The fourth, fifth and sixth will receive 300, 200, and 100 dollars respectively.

The office of Civil Society under the office of the Prime Minister (GASC-GPM) provided around US$8,000 for this event.
