DILI, 15 december 2022 (TATOLI)- Information Communication and Technology (ICT) organized a national workshop focused on the improvement and development of the ICT system in Timor-Leste.
President of ANC, João Lino Freitas said ANC is a communication regulator body that takes responsibility to control and evaluate the progress of communication and technology systems in Timor-Leste, saying therefore this workshop was organized to share input for the challenges and progress of the communication system in Timor-Leste with government entities, communication operators, and students from universities.
“ ANC expected the comment and input from others part for more improvement on information, communication, and Technology systems, while we also have the competence to give sanction to any communication operators against the ANC regulation.’’ President of ANC, Joao Lino Freitas told journalists at City8 Manleuna, thusday.
Director of Minister of Transportation and communication, Albino Barreto said Information communication and technology are very important in this country.
“ICT plays an important role to centralize and secure government IT systems, and data centers through the TIC TIMOR network therefore the advancement of ICT is useful in Timor-Leste. It can be beneficial for the social economy, education, health, and other relevant aspects,” he said.
ICT data shows in 2020, 45% of the population in Timor-Leste accessed the 4G network while 96% of the population in Timor-Leste used mobile phones.
The participants were composed of staff from MTC, ANC, TIC, and TIC.IP, TANE consumers and including 70 students from universities UNTL, UNITAL, DIT, IOB, Cristal Institution, and others.
