DILI, 21 december 2022 (TATOLI) – More than 900 teachers will attend continuous Teacher Training at the National Institute of Training of Teachers and Education Professionals (INFORDEPE), in 2023.
The President of INFORDEPE, Manuel Gomes recalled that within 2022, the institute has already provided Continuous Training to 2,940 teachers on curriculum, social and natural science, mathematics, and English.
Gomes said that this year 2,576 teachers have graduated from INFORDEPE in the area of Primary Education Teaching.
“According to our plan, we want to provide academic and continuous training to a total of 17,821 registered teachers, of which 8,841 have already attended the training. We currently register about 4,000 teachers, of which 960 will start the Continuous Training, next year,” Gomes told TATOLI, in Dili, today.
He said that it is necessary to establish an agreement between INFORDEPE, Timor Lorosa’e National University (UNTL), and the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MoEYS).
“We currently registered 3,386 teachers who are yet to take the bachelor’s degree courses in Primary Education Teaching, of which 1,275 will start in 2023 after the agreement between the three institutions is established,” he added.
Gomes stressed that about 3,000 thousand teachers have already attended the Portuguese language training under the cooperation of the PRO-Portuguese Project. Besides Portuguese language training, these teachers have also acquired practical skills and professional competencies.
