DILI, 26 january 2023 (TATOLI) – Twenty-nine medicine scholarship recipients will leave for Cuba on january 28 to study medical specialties. 

Romel da Costa Braz, one of the scholarship recipients thanked the Ministry of Health for allowing them to continue their medical studies in the Caribbean country. 

“On behalf of all the scholarship holders, I would like to express my deep appreciation to the government for this opportunity. We will use the opportunity wisely to succeed in our studies to contribute to national development, especially in the health sector,” he said. 

Health Minister thanked the Cuban government for granting the scholarship, saying that the scholarship holders will contribute immensely to the health services after returning from Cuba. 

“Bilateral cooperation of the two countries in the health sector dates back to the first government which has resulted in the production of more than 1,000 doctors. Not only that, but Cuba also helped us establish the faculty of medical sciences at the Lorosa’e National University (UNTL),” Minister Belo said. 

The 29 scholarship holders will do their medical specialty studies in the areas of emergency medicine critical care, clinical pathology, anatomy pathology, radiology, physical medicine and rehabilitation, psychiatry, cardiology, otorhinolaryngology, pediatric, ICU nursing, and neonatal nurse.
