DILI, 06 february 2023 (TATOLI) – Prime Minister Taur Matan Ruak has today left for Australia to meet with his Australian counterpart, Anthony Albanese, to strengthen ties between Timor-Leste and Australia.
It was Ruak’s first visit to Australia since taking office as Prime Minister in 2018.
“The purpose of the visit is to thank and appreciate the support of the Australian Government in helping the Government and the people of Timor-Leste during the Covid-19 and April Flash Floods,” said in a statement.
Ruak will have a meeting with his Australian counterpart, Anthony Albanese, and Governor-General David Hurley during his visit between february 6 and 9.
The visit of the Head of Government was accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Adaljiza Magno.
It is recalled that Prime Minister Taur Matan Ruak missed his official state visit to Australia early last year due to Covid-19.
