DILI, 10 february 2023 (TATOLI)- ChildFund Timor Leste and Ba Futuru nongovernmental organization (NGO) graduates 54 young Timorese from ‘the Inspiring Youth Changemaker’ program (IYC) in Luru post administrative, Lautem municipality.
A statement from Childfund stated that IYC program manager, Sergio Marques Thong said the IYC provide the capacity building for young Timorese to enhance their ability to behavior change, and involvement in public activity.
“So 54 young Timorese from Luro, Lospalos are receiving certificates today. I am pleased to provide capacity building for the youths, they have potential, they have knowledge, ability, and attitude, to contribute in the rural development,’’ IYC program manager, Sergio Marques Thong said in the ceremony graduation held in Lautem municipality, thursday
Sergio Explained that the IYC program has benefited two young people who are currently residing and working aboard at the same time providing opportunities for other people to work.
While The others continue to study at the university level, English courses, Korean language, and other alumni still proceeding activity on the IYC program activity.
At the same time, Dionisio Soares a high school graduate, appreciates this program, saying this IYC program allowed him to learn many things, especially about self-potential.
“I graduated from high school in 2020; it was not a regular activity for me to enhance my ability. It is a blessing to me, to join in IYC programs in my village, therefore I can get more learning and gained knowledge,’’ IYC participant, Dionisio Soares
The 54 young people aged 15 to 17 years old from 8 villages in Lautem post administrative and Lautem municipality.
Until today 120 young people have benefited from this program, the number composed of people with disability, students from junior high school, senior high school, university students, and graduated students.
So far, The IYF group center in Lautem was established in 2021, this program was realized following the cooperation between the Secretary of State of Youth and Sport (SoSYS), the youth leaders center in Lautem, a local NGO which directly works in youth-based, GIZ, World Vision, and Unicef on curriculum formation consultation. The IYC program also involved local leaders in the program implementation.
This program is supported by the New Zealand government which partnership with Ba Futuru NGO. The IYC program is focused on capacity building for youth in Illomar in Tutuala administrative post will be ended in 2025.
