DILI, 10 february 2023 (TATOLI)- The government through the Ministry of Tourism, Trade, and Industry (MTCI) has conducted the first stage of discussions with the Portugal Embassy to develop the inn, in Timor-Leste.
Special Advisor for Tourism, Manuel Vong, said MTCI had held a meeting with the Portugal Embassy in Timor – Leste. The meeting was to strengthen Timor-Leste’s cooperation with Portugal through MTCI and the Economic Ministry of Portugal.
“We have hosted the first discussion to enhance the cooperation between Timor-Leste and Portugal to preserve the architectural historical related to the Portuguese handmade which were left in Timor-Leste,” said Manuel Vong, to the TATOLI Agency in his office in Farol Dili, on Thursday.
He said it was necessary to preserve and need to maintain the inn because this patrimony has historical value.
“Our patrimony has historical value; thus, we must preserve it because if we do not preserve these patrimonies, it will automatically disappear in Timor – Leste,” said Vong.
He added that the historical patrimony that Portugal wishes to preserve, is the Baguia Inn, Castelo Ossu, the Uatulari Regent’s Residency, the Laclubar Regent’s Residency, the Turiscai Regent’s Residency, the Same-Vila Regent’s Residency, the Maubara Regent’s Residence, the Makassar Beach Regent’s Residency, the Autauro inn and the Manatuto -Villa inn.
These places are already identified as historical tourism, therefore the Government of Timor – Leste through MTCI will rehabilitate and will be preserved them to provide economic, social, and cultural benefits to the communities.
He emphasized that currently, the technical team from MTCI has discussed the state patrimony with Portugal Embassy in Timor – Leste, hoping that, will soon have an agreement from all parties to implement this program.
“Based on the plan, we will allocate the budget for maintenance of the inn by this year, but the allocation budget is yet to decide because this program is in the stage of discussion,” he concluded.
