DILI, 7 march 2023 (TATOLI)- GARMENT company deployed over 100 Timorese potential women in ten municipalities to reduce women unemployment.
The Executive Director of GARMENT Company, Clarissa Lay said GARMENT Company is a sewing company that has deployed over 100 rural women at the municipality level to work at sewing machines.
“I deploy temporary workers over 100 women to work in GARMENT Company. However, there are only 50 women who are permanent staff due to the lack of marketing demand,’’ The Executive Director of GARMENT Company, Clarissa Lay said told Journalists at Hotel Timor, this Tuesday.
Lay said GARMENT company help women to develop skill in design, sewing, cutting, and others by installing 100 sewing machines in ten municipalities to develop their skills.
Lay at the same time, said, despite her company providing job opportunities and support for rural women, it also needs financial support and other facilities from the Government.
“We have identified that three municipalities have many potential women to work in this sewing project such as Viqueque, Lautem, and Suai’’ She said
GARMENT Company has so far designed over 9.000 uniforms for the staff of the Ministry of Finance.
While women who work in the GARMENT Company have permanent income, built houses, buy new cars, and others.
