DILI, 28 march, 2023 (TATOLI)– Timor-Leste South Submarine Network (ASN) and Australian Alcatel Submarine Network (ASN) carried out an offshore mapping survey to identify the proper spaces for the implementation of the cables submarines project.

Minister of Transportation and Communication (MoTC), José Agostinho Da Costa said in previous months, the MoTC team and the Australian Alcatel team joint effort to caring out an offshore mapping study to identify the proper spaces for the submarine installation project.

“We just finished the offshore mapping survey of the submarine installation projects. We are in the elaboration of the report, after concluding the report two parts will discuss the implantation” Minister of Transportation and communication, José Agostinho Da Costa told journalists at Dili port, this Tuesday.

He added that the two parts will also identify the cables that will be used in this project.

“Timor-Leste and Australia will have a mutual decision for the cables that can be used for undersea installation,” explained

The study also identified the destination of cables in Timor-Leste, which will be installed around the Arbiru Beach location.

Costa stressed that the report will be presented to the prime minister. The decision maker will be decided on the implementation of this project.

“We hope that this report should be finalized soon. We also hope that this project must be implemented before the ending of the mandate of the eighth government constitution,” he concluded

So far, Alcatel Submarine Network (ASN) and Timor-Leste south submarine cable (TLSSC) have signed an agreement on last 22 May 2022.

It is known that the submarine cable will cost over 38.6 million USD.
