DILI, 11 April, 2023 (TATOLI)- Timor-Leste participates in the World Bank Governance World Banks (WB) and International Monitory Fund (IMF) between Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP) and G7+ countries members.
The statement released by Timor-Leste’s Office of Finance said the meeting held on 10 april to 16 of april 2023, in Washington DC the capital city of the United States of America (USA).
Timor-Leste World Bank governadór, Abraão de Vasconcelos and International Monitory Fund (WB/IBF), Rui Augusto Gomes will have a crosscutting visit to strengthen bilateral meetings with the new Mission chief of IMF based on Article IV.
“In the meeting, two parts will discuss the fix data on the IMF visit to Timor-Leste that will be realized in the second semester in 2023, after Timor-Leste carried out the parliamentary election,’’ the statement said.
There will also be a bilateral meeting organized between The Governor, Rui Gomes, and the delegation and the vice president of IFC to discuss technical assistance that provided by IFC to the government of Timor-Leste, especially focused on strategic projects modalities on Public, Private, and Partnership (PPP) such as Tibar Port, Rehabilitation of commercialized Dili port Project, Health Diagnostic project (PPP) “Quality House and Assessable price’’ which is the government consider as a basic human right which is fundamental for the Timorese health and welfare.
The statement also stated that in the 2023 spring meeting, the Timor-Leste delegation led by Minister of Finance Rui Gomes and Abraão de Vasconcelos will have a bilateral meeting with the Executive director of World Bank groups constituent EDS21 which is involved in Timor-Leste Portugal.
“The Timor-Leste delegation also will have bilateral meetings with FMI executive Director groups constitute Brazil which is composed of Portuguese-speaking countries (CPLP) Such as Timor-Leste, Cabo Verde, Brazil, and others. In the spring meeting, the Timor-Leste delegation will participate in the Ministerial meeting focused on “Human Development’’.
Minister Rui Gomes represent Timor-Leste to have an intervention in human development in Timor-Leste on a vital priority from the eight governments constitutional which is considered “People” as the development center.
At the same time, Rui Gomes will also represent eight governments constitutional to have intervention in the G7+ country members with the theme: “ Addressing Fragility and Conflict amid New Challenges’’. This event was organized by IMF in coordination G7+ secretariat led by the G7+ general secretary of g7+, Hélder Da Costa.
Every year, Eight Constitutional Government led by Prime Minister Taur Matan Ruak allocated financial support worth $.1 million for the secretariat of g7+ to support the g7+ service on diplomatic at the international level, which is focused on advocacy on global policy to respond to conflict and fragility.
On 16 April, Governor Rui Gomes will represent Timor-Leste to share ideas on ministerial meetings between vulnerable groups (V20).
Timor-Leste’s participation in the spring meeting, The delegation from Timor-Leste was accompanied by the Chargé affairs of the Timor-Leste Embassy in Washington DC, Ambassador António Araújo.
The delegation was set to return to Timor-Leste on 17 April 2023.
