DILI, 13 april 2023 (TATOLI)- The Authority of Civil Protection ( ACP)- today held a Technical Working Meeting to discuss the implementation of the second project of Tsunami Tore in Timor – Leste.
The President of the Authority of Civil Protection, Inspector Ismail Babo, explained, the discussion will be focused on the implementation of the second project of Tsunami Tore, besides the offer of capacity building to the staff of ACP to control the maintenance of Tsunami Tore that have been set in Dili municipality.
“We have constructed the first project of Tsunami Tore in Dili municipalities with the 2022 State Budget wroth $ 90,000, thus in 2023 European Union ( EU) will Grant 550,000 Euro to support ACP in implementing the second project of TSUNAMI Tore in the municipality of Suai and Vikeke with aiming to detect the early sign of an earthquake, and Tsunami in Timor – Leste,” the President of ACP, Ismail Babo told TATOLI at his office in Bebora Dili on thursday.
He added that this project named Building Safety and Resilience in the Pacific Countries, where the 15 countries in the Pacific including Timor – Leste received a grant from European Union worth 550,000 Euro to construct the Tsunami Tore.
While in Timor-Leste there will be another tsunami tore set in two municipalities of Suai and Vikeke this year, and the budget will also utilize to empower the Capacity Building to the staff of ACP on how to manage the operational system of Tsunami Tore and its maintenance during 5 years.
” We hope that with the implementation of the second project of Tsunami Tore in the two municipalities of Suai and Vikeke will detect early signs of tsunami to save the people from the disaster,” he concluded.
