DILI, 15 april 2023 ( TATOLI) – The Timor-Leste Coalition for Education (TLCE) recommends to the Government develop a school digitization library to facilitate students in Timor-Leste.
TLCE Executive Director José Monteiro said that this era is a digitalization era, therefore Timor Leste must adapt itself to digitalization technology, one of which is the digitization of the school library.
“TLCE recommends to the government to develop digitization of school libraries through online applications to facilitate students and improve reading and writing habits in Timor-Leste,” Monteiro told TATOLI in his office Cai-Coli, Dili.
Monteiro said to develop school online libraries will not require a lot of funds, it only requires internet facilities.
“Digitating school libraries do not require a lot of budgets, the important thing is that internet facilities are accessible, TLCE hopes that the government through the Ministry of Education can develop library digitization through fiber optic installation in Timor Leste next year,” he said.
TLCE has also observed that many teachers and students already have smartphones, therefore digitizing the school library will help students increase their knowledge through reading habits.
“With the digitization of the school library, all subject matter can be downloaded through existing online applications, making it easier for students to access and improve the quality of education in Timor-Leste,” he concluded.
Based on data from more than 250,000 school students in the National Territory, therefore making an online school library digitization web application is very important to assist students to improve their reading habits in improving the quality of education in Timor-Leste.
