Ataúru May 10, 2023 (TATOLI)– Acting Director of the Ministry of Public Works (MoEC), Bonifácio Soares, revealed that Atauro’s Ministry of Public Works has completed road construction from Maquili to Biqueli.
“AFR has completed rural roads in Maquili and Biquili, we continue to implement the rural road program because we know that the RFD (Road For Development) program was completed last year and the project will continue to be handled by the Ataúru municipality for the next road construction,” Acting Director of the Minister of Public Works (MoPW), Bonifácio Soares told Tatoli at his office, Mau-meta Villa, this Wednesday.
He added that the rural road infrastructure has been handed over by the Ministry of State Administration (MoH) to Atauro’s Ministry of Public Works to proceed with the project.
“The Ministry of Public Works Ataúru will be in charge of ongoing projects from Biquili to Makadade villages with a length of about 18 km. The project is planned to start this year.”
He said the budget for road construction allocated from the Ministry of Public Works was not included in Atauro municipal budget.
According to Soares, the Ataúru road infrastructure is funded by Timor-Leste through the FEDA ( Fundus Espesial Development Atauru) Department.
In 2022 FEDA has provided $12 million for all infrastructure development programs while in 2023 it will provide $13 million.
